3.5. Law enforcement agenciesselected for printing

Law enforcement agencies are other kinds of important non-military actors. Examples include: police (police forces might have civil or military status, for example gendarmeries, which have a military status and are policing the population), border police, customs, correction facilities and national law enforcement. Such law enforcement agencies are also important counterparts and specialists who contribute to security and governance. Police liaison is normally conducted by the provost marshal. CIMIC personnel must maintain a close relationship with the office of the provost marshal and should consider law enforcement agencies in assessments and planning.
